Devin Robinson (SF/PF, Florida)

Measurables: 6’8”, 7’1” wingspan, 189 lbs, 22.2 years old

Strengths

  • Great physical tools, with size to defend 3s and 4s well
  • Clear-cut offensive role as a corner shooter and transition athlete
  • Never tries to do too much on offense
  • Shot mechanics look very good
  • Very solid defensive metrics
  • Rarely turns the ball over – 10.1 TOV%
  • Solid rebounder – 18.5 DRB% is sign of upside
  • Great tools to play small 4 as he adds strength
  • Has role player upside, can succeed in many situations
  • Elite at rim – 73% on 88 shots at rim

Weaknesses

  • Does nothing on offense besides hit threes and finish in transition
  • Cannot create for others at all
  • Fluid athlete but not really a traffic finisher
  • Doesn’t have ball handling ability to attack closeouts
  • At 22, can he add much more strength?
  • Really needs to add a ton of strength – extremely thin
  • Doesn’t get to line as much as you’d like – 4.2 FTA/40
  • A bit of a tweener
  • Already 22 and has consistently failed to live up to expectations
  • Extremely inconsistent

Overall

  • Robinson is a player with a ton of tools who looks like he should be an awesome 3 and D guy, but he just struggles to be consistent and put it all together. He can be a weapon in transition as well, with flashes of explosiveness near the rim. However, as a ball handler, he’s severely lacking and relies a ton on others for shot creation. He generates almost no assists, and can absolutely disappear for long stretches on offense. Best-case scenario he becomes a Trevor Ariza-type player, but he’ll have to show up consistently and improve his shot more if he wants to become a legit guy.
