Ivan Rabb (PF/C, California)

Measurables: 6’10”, 7’1.5” wingspan, 215 lbs, 20.3 years old

Strengths

  • Has the height/length to play center
  • One of the better rebounders in the draft
  • Placed in a very bad system at Cal
  • Pretty fluid running the floor
  • Decent finishing ability
  • Really talented as a rebounder – arms like glue
  • Passing flashes
  • A little upside of perimeter game
  • Solid defensive IQ, good defensive metrics

Weaknesses

  • Extreme regression from freshman to sophomore year
  • Doesn’t shoot at rim very much
  • Poor efficiency on 2 point outside of rim (36%)
  • Thin frame at the moment
  • Flashes of midrange but has jumper hitch
  • Struggles defensively against stronger bigs
  • Not very quick switching on to guards
  • Hard to project much of his game translating to the NBA

Overall

  • After an impressive freshman season at Cal, Rabb really disappointed as a sophomore, seeing his efficiency seriously dip. He doesn’t do a whole lot that projects well at the NBA level besides rebound, as his offense was fairly inefficient and he doesn’t have elite athleticism or anything like that. It wouldn’t be insane for a team to take a shot on him and see if they can utilize his size and mobility, but he hasn’t flashed a whole lot and it’s hard to see where he fits in the NBA.
