The Los Angeles Dodgers made a move moments before the waiver deadline to help shore up their outfield.
The team has acquired outfielder Justin Ruggiano from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Ruggiano was DFA’d by the Mariners in June when he was hitting just .214 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI through his first 81 at-bats. Â He cleared waivers and was sent down to AAA, where he hit .296 with 10 home runs through 49 games for Tacoma.
This move adds to the Dodgers depth as they currently have a pair of outfielders (Yasiel Puig and Enrique Hernandez) on the DL.
Because Ruggiano was acquired by 8/31, he is eligible to play in the post-season.
