(For real this time).
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly confirmed today that cornerback KeiVarae Russell has been cleared to play by the NCAA and fully reinstated by the school.
Russell missed the entire 2014 season due to a school academic investigation. Â Nearly three months ago, Russell posted this on his instagram:
Today, Brian Kelly let us know that Russell is officially back when he said:
“By the way, KeiVarae is fully cleared by the NCAA and reinstated. Â So he’s back with us. You like how I dropped that in there, right?”
The talented cornerback started the first 26 games of his career at Notre Dame, while being named a freshman All-American and ending up on a host of 2014 preseason watchlists before the school looked into some academic improprieties.
While Russell is back, another player who was suspended in that academic investigation was defensive end Ishaq Williams. Â Williams remains suspended, but Coach Kelly announced that his reinstatement appeal is still ongoing.
