Kevin Seraphin to the Pacers
The Indiana Pacers have agreed to a two-year, $3.6 million deal with free agent Kevin Seraphin.
The second season is a team option.
The 26-year-old center played the first five years of his career with the Washington Wizards, then signed with the Knicks last August on a one-year, $2.8 million contract.
Seraphin played 48 games with New York, starting none, while averaging 3.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 0.8 blocks in 11 minutes a night.
He provides the Pacers with a strong rim protector off the bench at a bargain price. We don’t have to go back too far to remember a time when the former first round pick looked like he was on the cusp of becoming a very solid NBA player, potentially even a starter.
During the 2011-2012 NBA season, while playing for the Wizards, he averaged 7.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 20.6 minutes a game.
He also started 21 games that season.
Seraphin never found his groove with the Knicks last season, let’s hope a change of scenery does him well.
