2019 NFL Draft Player Profile Taylor Rapp

Taylor Rapp is an impressive safety from Washington. He is a great centerfielder who takes good angles to the football. He is a strong tackler including in the open field. Rapp has good instincts and that helps him play the zone well. I see him as able to play the deep safety position as well as in the box. He has been asked to blitz and shows good pass rushing skills for a safety. Rapp will be able to support the run with his instincts for sniffing out the play and his tackling ability in the open field.

Rapp doesn’t come with many weaknesses. If there is one thing I would worry about with Rapp is his coverage. On tape, he showed that he can be good in coverage. The problem is that he wasn’t asked to do it a lot at Washington. I trust Rapp much more playing the zone than I do in coverage. I do think its an area he can develop into.

Rapp is a surefire free safety in the NFL. He can fit into a system that asks the free safety to come into coverage. I think he can play on the strong side, but his strength is playing in space. I think Rapp is a first rounder who will only be passed because of him being a safety and that being a position that is generally not drafted as high.
