2019 NFL Draft Profile: Raekwon Davis

Raekwon Davis is an impressive prospect. He shows both the ability to rush the passer and stop the run. As a pass rusher, he has a quick first step. He also has a strong club rip move which will be effective at the next level. He has good pass rush moves for a defensive interior player. He is both athletic and big which makes him imposing for offensive linemen. He also uses that big body to get off blocks and make tackles. He has the power to be a run stuffer as well.

The weakness that I see in Davis’s game is his technique. He has some balance issues which stem from his technique. He seems to understand leverage, but it seems that he needs to get stronger in the lower half. I do not see this as a serious problem and this is something NFL teams will be able to fix with coaching and squats.

I see Raekwon Davis as a clear first-round pick. I think he is primed for a big season taking over as the primary defensive lineman now that Da’Ron Payne is gone. I would actually take Davis over Payne as Davis is more stout against the run. I think Davis has a big year where he is an All American defensive tackle and takes that to the NFL after this year. My best guess is that he is a top 10 pick in a very good defensive lineman class. I could see him function as a 4-3 defensive tackle or a 3-4 defensive end.
