The 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class may not be as elite as the previous years, but that won’t stop teams from prioritizing the position in the first round. While the talent pool might not be as deep or as impressive as in other years, the potential rewards for landing a top quarterback remain too enticing for many teams to ignore.
Franchises like the Giants, Raiders, Saints, Browns, and possibly the Titans and Panthers are likely feeling the pressure to make a change at quarterback. While decisions on the position rarely come down to a single question, and factors like finances and coaching staffs play a big role, the safest route for teams lacking confidence in their current quarterbacks is to draft a new one—preferably sooner rather than later.
For example, the Giants attempted to move up for Drake Maye in 2024. The Raiders passed on drafting a quarterback last year, even though six went before their pick. The Saints are stuck with Derek Carr, who isn’t viewed as a long-term solution. Meanwhile, teams like Carolina and Tennessee are likely questioning the futures of Bryce Young and Will Levis, given their rocky starts in the NFL.
This mock draft isn’t designed to suggest that the 2025 quarterback class is exceptional. The top prospects aren’t as highly regarded as in recent years, and the depth of talent is more limited than initially expected. That said, the demand for quarterbacks remains high, with four taken in the first seven picks and five in the first round overall.
