Bulls/T'Wolves: An NBA Summer League Classic

Timberwolves guard Tyus Jones was excellent all summer

For the most part, NBA Summer League games, even championship games pass without much fanfare.

While it’s nice to win, no one really cares and games are forgotten shortly after the final buzzer goes off.

Once in a blue moon, we have a game like last night’s championship matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves that will stay with us forever.

Let’s pick up the action with 10.2 seconds left and the game tied at 74

Summer League MVP Tyus Jones buries a deep three to give the lead to Minnesota, only to have Chicago Bulls incoming-rookie Denzel Valentine come off a screen and knock down a tough three-pointer of his own.

We’re heading to overtime and strangely enough, we’re excited about it.

We pick things back up with 9.6 seconds left in overtime, the game now tied at 82.

He gets into the lane.

Step back.

Spin.

It’s good.

The Chicago Bulls are our 2016 NBA Summer League Champions and perhaps more importantly, we just watched maybe the best summer league game of all-time.
