For the first time in the storied history of a proud institution, the Villanova Wildcats men’s basketball team is ranked as the #1 overall team in the country.
The school has won a National Championship and 47 NCAA Tournament games, but has never before ascended to the top spot.
Villanova is ranked #1 by both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls that were released today.
The Wildcats (20-3) jumped up from the #3 spot last week after the previous top two teams (Oklahoma and North Carolina) lost games this week.
Villanova is the only AP Top-10 team that has not lost to a team ranked lower than #16.
