D’Andre Walker is a college defensive end that showed the ability to drop into coverage. He also has the ability to get off blocks and that wasn’t true for all of Walker’s college career so it is encouraging to see improvement in that area. Walker shows good instincts for the run on tape. Where he will excel as a linebacker especially in a 4-3 is the blitz. He is a good pass rusher that brings pressure regularly. He is a player that understands creative blitzes and will bring the ability to execute stunts. He shows good hand placement as a pass rusher. He also has a decent bull rush for his size.
Walker does come with some weaknesses. As a pass rusher, he will need to develop more pass rush moves. He also needs to get lower on his pass rush. He also needs to become a better tackler to be a linebacker. I also noticed that he gets overpowered by linemen and that is why he projects better as a pro linebacker.
I see Walker as a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL. I also think he could play the 4-3 outside linebacker position. His best fit in a 4-3 is as a will linebacker at the next level. Walker is an intriguing player and I think he would make for a good value second round pick.
