Just when the US needed him most, 19 year-old Christian Pulisic came through.
The Borussia Dortmund attacker scored the opening goal, and assisted the second with a beautiful cross to Jozy Altidore, who was another top performer on the night, in the 19th minute.
Altidore also scored the 3rd goal with a Panenka penalty, after Bobby Wood was fouled in the box after a great individual effort. Wood himself put his name on the scoresheet with a 74th minute strike to make it 4-0, which is how things ended.
DeAndre Yedlin also had a great match, shutting down the right side, and making a goal-saving slide tackle in the first half. Overall, it was a good team performance from the US in a match they needed to win, with a few standout performances.
The US is now just a win or draw against Trinidad and Tobago from punching their ticket to the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer.
