Ronald Acuna is a player to watch in Atlanta.
The Braves began the rebuild of their farm system in 2015, and have built a good system. According to MLB.com, the Braves have six prospects in the Top 100.
The most likely candidate to make an appearance this season for the Braves is also their top prospect, Ronald Acuna. With an overall rating of 60 from MLB.com, Acuna definitely has it all, scoring 50 or higher in all five-tool areas. Reports say that he’s got a knack for reading fly balls, and has a great arm. Acuna developed better plate discipline as 2017 progressed, finishing with a .393 OBP in 54 games at AAA.
Given that the Braves outfield situation doesn’t provide a lot of barriers for Acuna to reach the majors, it will likely be sooner rather than later. An injury or poor production from Nick Markakis or Lane Adams could push Acuna’s debut up.
