Dempsey's Brace Leads Sounders Past 'Caps

Clint Dempsey led his team to victory.

In a must-win match between two fierce rivals, US Soccer legend Clint Dempsey came through for the Sounders CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Dempsey scored in the 56th minute to put the Sounders ahead with a beautiful curling effort, just out of the reach of Stefan Marinovic.

Then in the 88th minute, with Vancouver only needed a goal and a 1-1 draw to advance, Dempsey got on the end of a Victor Rodriguez cross to make it 2-0 and put the match out of reach for Vancouver, who struggled to get anything going all night.

Seattle will face the winner of Houston and Portland, which will be decided on Sunday night at Providence Park in Portland.

A Portland-Seattle has got to be what most people outside of Houston are hoping, as the Seattle-Portland rivalry is often referred to as the best rivalry in MLS.

Putting that rivalry into a playoff setting would be nothing short of spectacular.
