With Mark Reynolds hitting on .229, with 8 home runs on the season, the Cardinals knew they weren’t getting the kind of production out of first base that they expect.
So about a week ago, the team had an idea. Â They would move top 100 overall prospect Stephen Piscotty from the outfield to first base.
I guess they felt like he was ready, because today the team made the call to bring him up to the majors.
Piscotty was drafted by the Cardinals in the supplemental first round in 2012 out of Stanford.
He moved quickly through the Cardinals minor leagues, getting to Double-A in 2013 and Triple-A in 2014.  Through 87 games with Memphis (the Cardinal’s AAA club) he’s hitting .272/.366/.475 with 11 homers.
