Luke Falk NFL Draft Profile

The trait that teams are going to like the most about Luke Falk is his throwing accuracy. He has shown he can throw the ball into tight windows. I also think he is accurate with the deep ball and can drop throws into the bucket. He does complete short passes with relative quickness and tenacity. Those are the kind of plays that he thrives on. He has shown on tape the ability to make the intermediate to long passes as well. His production would have been better if he was playing behind a better offensive line.

The big problem I see in Falk’s game is his arm strength. This makes it hard to complete tougher passes and still keep zip on the ball. His mobility is very average. Fast enough that he can take what the defense gives him, but not fast enough to make plays with his legs. His production is a little inflated by the “air raid” offense that Washington State plays. I think one of his biggest problems is that he holds onto the ball too long. He needs to make quicker decisions on longer passing plays. I thought he got a bit exposed by a good Washington secondary this year as well.

Falk is being talked about as a top-five quarterback in this draft, but I don’t know if that is where he will go. He is likely to have a lot of good competition at the top of the quarterback draft class. I see him as more of a mid round pick. Someone who is more of a career backup, than a potential starter. The main problem is the NFL will not let him hold the ball that long on intermediate to long passes. I also don’t think he has the arm strength teams are looking for. I still think his accuracy will be valued by a team looking for depth at quarterback.
