35-year-old’s aren’t supposed to be this good anymore.
Not in the age of baseball’s youth renaissance.
Monday night, during a doubleheader between the Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox, slugger Albert Pujols proved he’s still got something left in the tank.
Pujols hit his 27th home run in the first game of a doubleheader and then followed that up with two more in the second game. With those three home runs, Pujols passed Philadelphia Phillies’ legend Mike Schmidt for 15th on the all-time list at 549.
Here’s some of the names that Pujols has already passed this season: Â Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Willie McCovey, and Frank Thomas.
He’s currently on pace to hit 51 home runs this season, which would move him to 12th all-time on the home run list.
