Allen Crabbe signs an offer sheet with the Nets

The Nets believe Allen Crabbe can emerge as a go-to scorer

The Brooklyn Nets continue to be aggressive this off-season, agreeing to an offer sheet with free agent shooting Allen Crabbe.

Crabbe signed a 4-year, $75 million offer sheet with the team.

Portland will now have 3 days to match the offer.

The 24-year-old Crabbe took a big step forward in 2015-2016 while seeing increased minutes, he upped his averages across the board.  The guard finished the season averaging 10.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 39% from 3-point range, in 26 minutes a night.

This is the second high dollar offer sheet handed out by the Nets this summer, having agreed to a 4-year, $50 million offer sheet with Miami Heat restricted free-agent guard Tyler Johnson a few days ago.

They’ve also agreed to terms with a trio of unrestricted free agent:  Point guard Jeremy Lin (3-years, $36M), power forward Trevor Booker (2-years, $18M) and center Justin Hamilton (2-years, $6M).

All told, the team has paid out $185,000,000 to free agents so far this offseason.

Crabbe is the most aggressive offer of the bunch, the team is clearly hoping the young wing can break out when given a larger role on offense.  Right now he would likely slot in as a starter at shooting guard alongside point guard Jeremy Lin, small forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, power forward Trevor Booker and center Brook Lopez.  Tyler Johnson would play the role of 6th man in that scenario.
