Australian combo guard Dejan Vasiljevic has picked Miami over Stanford, Cal, LSU and Louisville.
Largely considered to be one of the best shooters in the world, in his age group, Vasiljevic’s addition adds to what many experts were already calling Miami (Fl)’s best ever recruiting class.
A standout player for Australia’s national teams over the years, he led the Aussie’s in scoring (13.3 points a game) and also chipped in 3.1 rebounds a game during the semi-recent 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championships, back in July.
He was also arguably the top player on both Australia’s 2014 U17 team in 2014 when he averaged 17.4 points a game (and 6.6 rebounds) and their U16 team during the 2013 FIBA Oceania tournament where the fearless guard put in almost 20 points a game. He idolized and plays like a young Drazen Petrovic.
A player of Serbian descent, he was born in Calgary and grew up in Australia. While the guard is currently more of a combo guard, there is hope that he’s play-making skills will evolve to where he can become a fulltime point guard. Either way, he projects to be a heck of a college player.
Before his addition, Miami already had a top-10 recruiting class with 5-star power forward Dewan Huell, 4-star guard Bruce Brown and 4-star center Rodney Miller.
He isn’t the only Aussie impacting 2016 recruiting rankings, Vasiljevic’s talented juniors backcourt-mate Tom Wilson has already committed to play his college basketball for SMU and head coach Larry Brown.
