Jason Terry provides veteran leadership for a young Bucks team
The Milwaukee Bucks and free agent point guard Jason Terry have agreed on a one-year contract.
The point guard’s deal with Milwaukee is a guaranteed, minimum-salary contract, according to Basketball Insider’s Eric Pincus (via Twitter). While the cap hit for Milwaukee will be only $980,431, Terry – who has more than 10 years of NBA experience – will earn the highest allowable minimum salary, worth $1,551,659.
Bucks General Manager Jason Hammond talked about the signing:
“Jason is a true professional who understands what it takes to be successful in this league,” Hammond said. “He’ll be an invaluable resource for our young group as we continue to develop into a championship-caliber team on and off the court, and he’s still one of the best shooters in the game who can help stretch the floor for us. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Milwaukee.”
There should be no misconceptions here, while Terry still has the ability to occasionally help on the floor, he was brought in to help provide on-court leadership for a young club.
The 38-year-old has played 17 seasons in the NBA. He won the NBA’s sixth man of the year award following the 2008-2009 season.
Last year, in his second stint with the Rockets, he played in 72 games and posted 5.9 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per contest.
