Dwyane Wade Wants A Deal Done Quickly

It would appear that Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is past the point in his career where he’s dreaming of a huge payday as a free agent.

The 34-year-old guard is very happy in Miami and he wants nothing more than a quick, fair contract with the team this off-season.

This is an interesting about-face from a player who just a few years ago, openly wondered what kind of deal he could be in-line for this off-season as the NBA salary cap begins to explode (it would rise as much as $20 million this summer).

Wade doesn’t want to test the free agent waters, he’d prefer things didn’t even get that far.  If the two sides can come to an agreement before free agency, all the better.

“The whole free agency thing, I didn’t want to be in it last summer; I don’t want to be in it this summer.  I don’t want to be on the market at all…. I’m not curious at all. I want to get to it [with the Heat]. I want to be able to sign my deal and move on and not have to deal with any rumors, any free agency, any this, any that. This is where I want to end my career. So we’ll figure it out.”
