ESL Pro League Season 5 : A Brief Introduction

ESL and ESL Pro league have always been special to the Counter-Strike community. Apart from the Majors, the ESL tournaments have been the war zone for top tier professional teams competing against each other.

ESL Pro League this year will feature an increased prize pool of $1,000,000 per season. This marks a 33% increase over the Prize pool of last year. Esports is growing at a rapid pace. We have several instances of big sporting organizations investing in eSports and CSGO in general.

ESL Pro League is divided into two segments based on region. There will be fourteen teams each from EU and NA competing for the spot in the LAN Finals atDallas. The LAN finals will be held at the Verizon Theater in Dallas.

ESL – Youtube Deal

ESL Pro League in 2017 will be streamed exclusively on Youtube Gaming. Earlier in the year, they struck a deal which would see ESL Pro League matches being streamed exclusively on Youtube. The deal is rumored to be worth around $ 3 million. This is a deviation from the previous years when the League was streamed on industry leader Twitch.

There will be nine weeks of round robin matches. The top six teams from each division will proceed to play in the LAN finals at Dallas. The teams securing 7th – 11th position will get a slot in Season 6.
