Welcome back to my Top NBA Fantasy Pickups of the Week column. Sorry for not posting any pickups, guys. From now on, every week, you can find some intriguing pickups for the following week. Stay tuned!
Guards
Terry Rozier
Terry Rozier has the ability to get hot and carry a fantasy team.
Rozier became relevant after the injury of Gordon Hayward in the opening night. He got hot earlier in the season but last couple weeks he returned to the real world. Recently, he is getting minutes and he has played 26.3 mpg in his last five games. Despite his shooting slump, he is a great out-of-position rebound source and he can knock down a couple of threes and steals. He is also turning the ball relatively less than any other guard. Last week he averaged 10.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, 0.5 spg with 1.3 tpg. He is also a great free throw shooter with %91.7 from the line. If you need a guard at the end of your roster, Rozier is the guy you can count on.
Frank Ntilikina
Welcome to NBA, Ntilmatic. After a slow start to the season, Ntilikina’s minutes on the rise in his last five. Just remembering he is a rookie and he will have problems in his field goal percentage, but the Knicks organization believes him, and he will be in starting lineup in the following weeks, for sure. He is a great pick and roll player and his connection with Porzingis excites Madison Square Garden. In his last five, he is averaging 5.3 ppg, 7.3 apg, 1.5 spg. If you are punting %FG or/and you need an assist source, grab him off the waivers.
Cory Joseph
The other honorable mention in this week’s column is Cory Joseph. He is not posting incredible stats, but the numbers say he is a stable guy and if you do not want to take any risk, you can pick him up. He is averaging 24 mpg in the season and he does not hurt you any of the 9-cat categories. In his last five, he posted 8.2 ppg(with 1.4 3pg), 3.8 rpg, 4.6 apg, 0.6 spg and 1.2 topg. If you want to offload an underperforming player, you can give him a look.
Wings
Terrence Ross
Surprisingly, last week a lot of owners dropped Terrence Ross especially after the 3 duds in a row. However, he bounced back in his last two outings and averaged 13.5 ppg(with 3.0 3pg), 2.5 rpg, 1.5 spg with %64.2 field goal percentage. He said he is not worried about his shooting and he will keep shooting. He is one of the interesting pickups and the owners who need a 3-point specialist should consider Ross.
Moe Harkless
Moe is not the type of player that most of the Fantasy GMs want. Since he is a sub-par shooter and has a limited upside, most owners use him on special occasions. This week, he is one of the guys who plays 4-games. He is a defensive stat-specialist with 0.9 spg and 0.9 bpg in this season. If you desperately need some steals or blocks, you can take him off the waivers.
Kyle Anderson
It seems Kawhi is not closing to a return and Pop is resting guys like Manu Ginobili and Danny Green, Kyle Anderson is the guy you should grab waivers. He is getting the minutes and in his last five, he averaged 26.6 mpg and 7.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.4 spg and 1.0 bpg. Most interestingly, he is excellent in the field goal percentage with %60.7 in last week and %50.0 in season. His numbers are Danny Green-esque and he should keep posting interesting numbers until Kawhi returns.
PJ Tucker
Houston is one of the league leaders at this point of the season and Tucker is an important role player both in real-life and fantasy-life. In his last five outings, he averaged 27.2 mpg and 6.2 ppg(with 1.0 3pg), 6.6 rpg, 1.4 apg and 1.8 spg with just 0.6 topg. His upside is not making him an exciting pick-up but if you need some rebounds and steals, he is the guy. Do not forget, CP3 is close to a return and after that Tucker can be irrelevant in terms of Fantasy.
Courtney Lee
Knicks has won 7 of their 9 games and Courtney Lee is on fire. He is averaging 11.3 ppg(with 2.0 3pg), 4.0 rpg, 3.1 apg and 1.4 spg. He is getting 31.0 mpg and he will continue to roll. He is a great source of threes and steals and if you want a specialist in these stats, Lee is the guy you want to own.
Bigs
This week, there are not any bigs that could make an impact. But if you need a low-end player with some blocks and rebounds, you should consider Salah Mejri. He is highly inconsistent and one day he can give 5 blocks and the next day he is a DNP-CD. Do not count on him and use him in streaming or if you are as desperate as Eva Longoria. LoL.
Have fun guys. See you next week!
