Josh Bailey is having a big season for the Islanders.
Josh Bailey – New York Islanders
Previously, Bailey’s highest season point total was during the 2016-17 season when he scored 56 points with 43 being assists over the course of a full 82 game season. This year, he currently has 46 points in 36 games played, with 10 being goals (career high of 16). Playing on the top line with captain John Tavares and Anders Lee on the other wing, it is looking very likely that Bailey will destroy both his goal and point totals this season if he and his linemates keep up their pace. Even falling off a little bit he will still be able to set personal bests.
Mikko Rantanen – Colorado Avalanche
The Finnish winger is only in his second full NHL season with the Avalanche since being drafted 10th overall in 2015. However, in his rookie year, he scored just 38 points in 75 total games. This season Rantanen currently has 30 points in 34 games. After scoring 20 goals in his rookie season, it is likely he will beat that as well as his point total. Rantanen looks to be another great young talent developing for the Colorado Avalanche.
Sean Couturier – Philadelphia Flyers
Since being drafted 8th overall in 2011 by Philadelphia, Couturier has been used primarily as a defensive and special teams forward. Killing penalties and always being on the ice to shut down the opposition’s best players. This season, under coach Dave Hakstol, Couturier has been moved into the first line center position and booted captain Claude Giroux over to the wing. The result has been phenomenal for Couturier as he is on pace to shatter all his season highs, and has already beaten his goal total. His career point high was 39 in a full season with 15 goals being his best, Couts currently sits at 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points in just 36 games played. With his immense defensive skill still being displayed night in and night out, the offensive numbers Couturier is finally putting up may just land him in the Selke conversation at the end of the season.
Brayden Schenn – St Louis Blues
This past offseason, the Philadelphia Flyers traded Schenn to the Blues in exchange for Jori Lehtera and picks. A positive trade for both teams, as the Flyers needed to make salary room for upcoming young players and Lehtera will be gone by then, while the Blues needed to take a shot on a natural center to play with Tarasenko. That shot has paid dividends as Schenn is off to a career year. With the Flyers, Schenn’s career highs were 26 goals and 59 points in a full season. He currently sits at 17 goals and 40 points in just 37 games. Schenn is on pace to score 37 goals and 88 points if he plays all 82 games.
