Indians acquire Coco Crisp from the A's

Coco Crisp is heading back to the Indians

The Cleveland Indians and Oakland A’s hooked up for a trade that sees veteran outfielder Coco Crisp heading to the Indians in exchange for left-handed pitcher Colt Hynes.

Crisp had been extremely unhappy with the situation in Oakland for some time now as he believed the team was intentionally sitting him out of games in order to ensure his option for 2017 didn’t vest.

The 36-year-old switch hitter is hitting just .234 with a .299 OBP and 11 home runs this year.  He will likely become a free agent after the season.

He gives the Indians another option in the outfield to help compensate for the loss of Michael Brantley.

While this is a mainly a cost-cutting move for the A’s, the team does add the 31-year-old Hynes.  A 5-11, 200 pound lefty reliever, he has limited major league experience with just 20 total innings pitched over the course of 2013 and 2015.

Hynes has a 0-0 record with a 9.00 ERA and 2.000 WHIP in 20 innings over 27 games.
