The Hawks have signed Jarrett Jack to a one-year deal
The Atlanta Hawks and free agent point guard Jarrett Jack have agreed to terms on a contract.
Jack will receive a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum. A one-year deal is nothing new to Jack who has now played for 8 teams during his 11-year career. His longest stint with one team came when he played with Portland for his first three NBA seasons.
Given the free agent market this summer, this deal is a potentially huge steal for the Hawks.
There is some risk involved, Jack’s 2015-2016 season ended when he suffered an ACL tear in January.
Before the injury, the 32-year-old Jack was averaging a solid 12.8 points and 7.4 assists, while playing in 32 games for the team. The Nets looked to move Jack this summer as part of their roster rebuild, but were unable to find a suitable deal and simply ended up cutting the guard.
Jack will serve as the primary backup to emerging star point guard Dennis Schroder, who became the starter when the team dealt Jeff Teague to Utah as part of a 3-team trade.
For his career, the reliable veteran has posted averages of 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists over 28 minutes a game.
Jack’s rehab is reportedly going “very well”.
