Josh Smith Traded From Clippers To Rockets

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to send forward Josh Smith to the Houston Rockets for the rights to international players (who have yet to be identified) and cash.

Smith has struggled since signing with the Clippers this past off-season, playing in 32 games (with 1 start), he’s averaging just 5.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 14.3 minutes a night (while shooting a career low 38% from the field).

The versatile forward played for the Rockets in 2014-2015 and helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals.

With Houston, he averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while playing 25.5 minutes a night.

Josh Smith is playing on a one-year contract at the veterans minimum ($1,499,000).

We’ll have more on this trade as it becomes available.

12:00PM Update: The Rockets traded the draft rights to foreign players Maarty Leunen and Serhiy Lishchuk to the Clippers for Smith.  The Clippers also will send cash back to Houston to cover the balance of Smith’s salary.
