We may not have seen the best yet from Khris Davis.
I think I took Khris Davis in every fantasy league I was in last year. I thought he was awesome! In 2015, 27 home runs in just 392 at bats?! Holy cow! I was shocked that Milwaukee didn’t get as much they should’ve for him in a trade as they acquired Jacob Nottingham in return for Davis, a catching prospect in the Oakland system Oakland acquired from the Astros in the Scott Kazmir deal. When you looked at Davis’s stats per 500 at bats, that was an average of 34 home runs and 85 RBI’s. Not too shabby for a guy no one outside of probably Milwaukee knew about. There’s a reason why as to why I feel Khris Davis can better his performance from this past season.

Khris has improved his home run total every year in the league from 11 to 22 even though he only played in 56 games in 2013, 22 to 27 and then 27 to a whopping 42 even in Oakland’s park. He turned 29 on December 21st, an age guys famously find a next gear in terms of power unforeseen (Jose Bautista, Carlos Pena, Brian Dozier, George Foster etc). Now that’s not always the case in terms of guys finding another gear but half of the time, something does click. With Davis, when you look at his game log, he started to get more on base as the season rolled along in June through September with an average on-base percentage of .319, though mediocre, far from an outcry of the .307 OBP he had for the season. He became more of a professional hitter as the season went on and that’s why I feel he’s primed to break out this year.
The Oakland Athletics aren’t projected to do well with many pundits projecting them to finish last in the division but if Khris Davis does build on his impressive power display in 2016, that’ll be great to the city of Oakland. No pressure Khris.
