Marvin Bagley III Reclassifies, Commits to Duke

Marvin Bagley III is now a Blue Devil

Marvin Bagley III, the top player in the Class of 2018 is now officially the top player in the Class of 2017.

The 6-11 power forward from Sierra Canyon High School in Phoenix, Arizona has also announced his commitment to head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils.

He picks Duke over offers from USC, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and every other notable school in college basketball.

How good is he?  Bagley III would have been the favorite to be the #1 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft if he were available — following his junior season in high school.

A big man with high-level ball skills, scoring, rebounding and defensive abilities, ESPN’s basketball recruiting director Paul Biancardi has called him a “once in a generation talent”.

Now he joins a Duke class that already ranked among the best in the country, that includes 5-star power forward Wendell Carter, 5-star point guard Trevon Duval, 5-star shooting guard Gary Trent Jr., 4-star small forward Jordan Tucker, 4-star shooting guard Alex O’Connell and 3-star point guard Jordan Goldwire.

The Blue Devils also return star shooting guard Grayson Allen, 2016 5-star center Marques Bolden and other valuable pieces.
