The Nets are saying goodbye to point guard Jarrett Jack
Unable to find a trade partner, the Brooklyn Nets have made the decision to waive point guard Jarrett Jack.
The 32-year-old Jack was scheduled to make $6.3 million for the 2016-2017 season, but because he was waived before the contract became fully guaranteed, the Nets are only on the hook for 500K next season. The moves clears upwards of $5.8M in cap space for the team.
Brooklyn is expected to pursue point guards Rajon Rondo, Jeremy Lin and Brandon Jennings in free agency.
New Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson was an assistant coach with the Knicks when Lin broke into the league and “Lin-sanity” was all the rage in New York.
Jack was having a good season for the Nets in 2015-2016, averaging 12.8 points and a career-high 7.4 assists per game, however, he suffered a season-ending knee injury on January 2nd.
General Manager Sean Marks has made real progress in his attempt to rebuild the roster since he took over. Other major moves include buying out Andrea Bargnani and Joe Johnson, as well as the recent trade of Thad Young to the Pacers.
Look for Brook Lopez to be shopped hard over the coming weeks.
