Taven Bryan is one of the better D-Lineman in this class.
Taven Bryan’s signature move is his rip move, which helps him beat the guard he is facing. As a defensive tackle, he can hold the point of attack and make progress on the line of scrimmage. He is particularly strong in winning matchups against the lineman and pushing in the pocket. Bryan brings regular interior pressure and that will be huge to his success at the next level. Bryan is also a violent hand fighter which helps him win at the line of scrimmage. His technique is good and that helps him get under and around linemen. I also like his motor which helps him fight the lineman and bring down the ballcarrier even when he is initially beaten.
There aren’t a lot of weaknesses to his game. I would say there are areas that need be cleaned up mostly. The biggest thing I don’t like about Taven Bryan is that he doesn’t anchor as well and fill in the running lanes. He sometimes seems like he needs to add extra weight so that he doesn’t have to rely purely on strength. The second area I think he needs to improve is his cadence. He needs to not jump the snap as much. He does have a quick first step, especially for an interior rusher, but he can sometimes be overactive at the snap of the ball. The third thing he needs to work on is his balance and staying on his feet more.
Taven Bryan is a first round pick but probably won’t go until the latter half of the first round. He is behind Vita Vea and Da’Ron Payne regarding overall talent. Bryan still has the pass rushing ability that teams will want to get interior pressure. I think he could function as both a defensive tackle in a 4-3 and a defensive end in a 3-4 front.
