According to English media outlet, The Mag, Newcastle United are chasing Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron for a January transfer.
Supposedly the figure could be as high as £15M ($20M), which would smash would smash the current league-record fee of $11M that Spanish club Villarreal paid for Jozy Altidore back in 2008.
That figure would also more than double the $8M that Atlanta initially paid for Almiron, which is a very nice return after just a year of the initial investment.
Newcastle are desperate to add some creativity to the side, as playmaker Ayoze has not worked out for the Toons.
It will be interesting to see how hard Newcastle pursues Almiron, and just how hard Atlanta United fights to keep the Paraguayan international in Atlanta.
