Russell Westbrook posts 7th straight triple-double

Russell Westbrook posted his 7th-straight triple-double.

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook posted his seventh consecutive triple-double during the Thunder’s 102-99 loss to the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook finished the game with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

This wasn’t Westbrook’s most efficient game as the electric guard shot just 8-25 from the field and turned the ball over 8 times.

In total, Oklahoma City was a -2 during Westbrook’s 36 minutes on the court.

Thus far this year, Westbrook’s usage rate of 41.0 is by far the highest in the NBA.  The next closest player is DeMarcus Cousins at 36.5.

Regardless of how it was done, just that it was done is an immensely impressive feat.

This was Westbrook’s 12th triple-double on the season, coming into the night the rest of the league accounted for a total of just 13 more (James Harden – 4, LeBron James – 3, Giannis Antetokounmpo – 2, Rajon Rondo / Chris Paul / Julius Randle / Marc Gasol – 1).

This also became the 49th triple-double of Westbrook’s career, that number is good for sixth overall.

The top five looks like this:

This is the longest consecutive triple-double streak in the NBA since Michael Jordan had seven in a row in 1989.

Tonight’s game also puts Westbrook in range of the NBA’s all-time longest triple-double streak of 9 in a row, done by Wilt Chamberlain in 1968.

This loss drops the Thunder to 14-9 on the season.
