The Seattle Seahawks and star quarterback Russell Wilson are trying to reach a contract agreement before the start of training camp. Â What’s holding things up you ask?
Quite simply… Russell wants to get paid.
This is turning into a real Jerry Maguire / Rod Tidwell situation in the Great Northwest as Wilson is telling the team “Show me the Money”.
According the reports, Wilson’s camp is asking for more than the 60 million guaranteed dollars that Ndamukong Suh received in his recent contract with the Dolphins.  That number is an NFL record, by the way.
This is an interesting situation because Wilson is known more for his moxie and ability to lead a team, rather than his big numbers on the field. Â Last season Wilson finished 15th in total passing yards, 16th in touchdown passes and 10th in QBR. Â Critics wonder if Wilson is somewhat lofted up by the team’s dominate running game and defense.
So what is the face of a franchise worth even in the stats don’t necessarily suggest that he’s a star?
We’ll find out soon.
