The MLS Conference Finals got underway last night, and Toronto and Seattle could be headed for a rematch in the MLS Cup Final.
Toronto drew Columbus at Mapfre Stadium, which doesn’t sound like much, but take into account that Toronto were missing both Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore, and that the second leg will be in Toronto, and Toronto appears to be in the driver’s seat here, although you never really know in a league as wild as MLS.
Houston’s chances meanwhile are looking bleak. Seattle won 2-0 in Houston last night, meaning they’ll head to Seattle with a two-goal lead, and two away goals at that. Seattle is a tough enough place to get a result, but to be tasked with scoring 2+ goals there when Seattle proved to be the better team in Houston?
Anything can happen, but I’d put the Dynamo’s chances at slim to none. It will still be very interesting to see how the second legs go, and if Seattle and Toronto are set for a rematch, or if one of the underdogs can pull out a win on the road.
