Splyce Scouting for FGC Players

A fighting game player may be donning the black and yellow for Splyce in 2017. Jaesun “Jae” Won, the Overwatch and FGC manager for Splyce, made an appearance last Wednesday during Brooklyn-based weekly Street Fighter V tournament, Next Level Battle Circuit and made the announcement. Jae mentioned that Splyce doesn’t have much of a presence in the fighting game community and there were opportunities to sign fighting game players in the past, but he made it clear that the FGC is definitely in Splyce’s agenda for the future.

“We feel like 2016 was a great year for the FGC, and we feel like 2017 is going to be an even bigger year especially with the announcement of Marvel Infinite,” said Jae.

When asked who Splyce currently has on their radar, Next Level regulars like Smug, Shine, and Idom got the nod from Jae. He also made remarks about the lack of opportunities for east coast players.

“Next Level has a lot of talent… talent that doesn’t get the opportunity to actually travel and to compete on a larger, broader scale and it’s kind of a shame.”

According to Jae, Splyce, formerly Follow eSports, is one of the bigger esports organizations in the Northeast. They’ve seen a number of successes over the past year with its EU LCS team gaining a spot for the first time in the 2016 League of Legends World Championship and its World of Warcraft team securing a victory in the WoW 3v3 Arena World Championship at BlizzCon. Splyce also has the rank 17th and 26th Smash Bros Melee players in Nintendude and MacD. For unsigned FGC players, Splyce could provide the stability needed to take them further in their esports careers.

“The good thing about getting sponsored by an org is that it helps your personal brand,” said Jae “With the FGC blowing up so much lately, I think it’s the prime time for players to get picked up.”

Idom was able to keep his NLBC tournament win streak alive by resetting the bracket and then eventually sealing the deal against F3 Alucard in Grand Finals of NLBC 49.
