Star Washington Nationals’ pitcher Stephen Strasburg is finally ready to begin making rehab starts in advance of returning to the big club.
The right-hander will start for the Syracuse Chiefs on Wednesday against Buffalo at NBT Bank Stadium.  This will be Strasburg’s third stint in Syracuse, he made six starts for the team in 2010 as the top ranked pitching prospect in the nation.  He also made a rehab start in 2011 after his Tommy John surgery
Strasburg, 27, sports a 5-5 record and a 5.16 ERA in 13 starts this year as he’s battled injuries.
Last year, Strasburg was 14-11 with a 3.14 ERA over 35 starts for the Nationals.
He tied for the NL strikeout lead with 242.
He may have lost a bit of luster this season, but make no mistake, when he’s healthy Strasburg is one of baseball’s premiere pitchers.
