TBS To Televise A Dota 2 Miniseries

On August 4th at 10:00 PM ET, the first hour-long episode of ELEAGUE: Road to the International Dota 2 Championships will air, followed by three more episodes over the following three Fridays. ELEAGUE, Turner Broadcasting’s eSports branch, is producing the miniseries.

The show will follow the course of the tournament in that the first episode, which airs before the August 7th start date of the tournament, will focus primarily on the training and preparing the teams do leading up to the tournament, while the rest of the episodes, which will be filmed as the tournament goes on, will follow the teams as they compete through the competition.

As a lead up to both the show and the tournament, TBS will also be airing the Free to Play documentary produced by Valve about Dota 2. The showing is taking place July 28th at 10:00 PM ET.

TBS is hoping that people are in the mood to watch a bit of a primer, a glimpse into the training and competition that only a few will take part in, as TI17 approaches. Hopefully, ELEAGUE does a good job and we get a few more shows like this in preparation for other major eSports tournaments around the world.

Below is the official press release:
