Mississippi State will face second-ranked Alabama Saturday still grieving from the loss of a teammate. They will also be graced with his presence on the field.
Mississippi State freshman defensive lineman Keith Joseph Jr. was killed in a car accident along with his father, Keith Joseph Sr. on November 6.
Thursday afternoon, MSU players and coaches were among the mourners in attendance for what was a highly-emotional memorial service for their teammate and his father.
Per the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal:
“One by one, Mississippi State players removed dog tags from around their necks and placed them on the closed casket lid.
Arm in arm, the Bulldogs embraced with tears falling to form a circle around casket to pray and mourn the loss of fallen teammate Keith Joseph Jr.”
Joseph’s teammate and best friend, Jamaal Peters, will wear Joseph’s #99 jersey against Alabama Saturday. Peters announced the gesture via Twitter and the school had confirmed.
