Measurables: 6’4.5”, 6’5” wingspan, 182 lbs, 21.2 years old
Strengths
- Flamethrowing 3 point shooter – can get ridiculously hot as seen in NCAA tourney
- Absolutely beautiful stroke and release
- Able to get shot off under any circumstances
- Draws decent amount of fouls for guy whose primary offensive contribution is as a shooter
- Gets out in transition – runs floor well
- Clutch player who seems to show up when it counts
- Flashed some playmaking/rebounding at combine
Weaknesses
- Extremely short arms hurt him a lot on defense
- Already 21 – old for college sophomore
- Very streaky game – went through extreme cold spell in Pac 12 play
- Very limited playmaker – higher TOV% than AST%
- Boom or bust scorer – 12 games with more than 20 points, 15 games with less than 10 points
- Struggles as a driver – gets cut off after first couple dribbles pretty easily
- Forces bad shots around rim – doesn’t have the ability to get all the way to rim
- Not overly committed as a defender
Overall
- At the next level, Dorsey is purely a shooter. While he’s pretty good at it, he’s a very streaky guy who becomes largely ineffective when his shot isn’t falling. At 21 with poor size and little defensive ability, Dorsey will be sweating out draft night and will likely have to prove himself in the summer league and preseason in order to earn a roster spot. Still, teams value shooting, and Dorsey is good at it.
